Regional GNSS-Derived SPCI: Verification and Improvement in Yunnan, China

From the aspect of global drought monitoring, improving regional monitoring method is becoming increasingly important for sustainable development agriculture and economy. The standardized precipitation conversion index (SPCI) calculated by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observation a new means that has advantages simple calculation real-time monitoring. However, only SPCI with 12-month scale been verified on scale, while its capability applicability at short time in areas have never investigated. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate performance other scales Yunnan, China, propose an improved SPCI. data six GNSS stations were selected calculate SPCI; evapotranspiration (SPEI) composite meteorological (CI) are introduced Yunnan Province. In addition, modified CI (MCI) was proposed calibrate because large bias Yunnan. Experimental results show (1) exhibits better agreement Province when compared SPEI; (2) superior SPEI Yunnan; (3) more suitable relative 5.43% MCI. These provide which significant dealing disasters formulating related disaster prevention mitigation policies.
